Teachers play a critical role in helping students develop their comprehension skills. In this session we will discuss effective methods for teaching text comprehension beginning with the foundational skill of listening comprehension and moving to reading comprehension. Mentor texts for instruction will be introduced. In addition, the various reasons a student might not comprehend and the steps that can be taken to address these issues will be presented.
