AFESC--Foundations of Reading Study Course, Week 8 - Zoom



This is a 10-week course that will prepare you to take the Foundations of Reading Test.  Sessions will be one hour long and take place each week on Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30 pm via Zoom.  Attendance can be for all 10 weeks to get an entire overview of the test or you can only attend sessions in areas where you need to focus. A subscription to Tutor240 will be provided for all participants to continue practicing on your own.  

Week 1 - October 1st

Topic: Concepts of Print and the Alphabetic Principle

Week 3 - October 15th

Topic: Phonics

Week 4 - October 22nd

Topic: Word Analysis Skills and Strategies

Week 5 - October 29th

Topic: Vocabulary Development

Week 6 - November 5th

Topic: Reading Comprehension Skills in Imaginative/Literary Texts

Week 7 - November 12th

Topic: Reading Comprehension Skills in Informational/Expository Texts

Week 8 - November 19th

Topic: Formal/Informal Methods for Reading Assessment

Week 9 - December 3rd

Topic: Multiple Approaches to Reading Instruction

Week 10 - December 10th

Topic: Constructed Response
