WDMESC: Science of Reading: Content-Based Morphology (Zoom Session)



 Participants will:

  • Understand what makes a good word learner
  • Learn essential classroom practices for teaching and learning about the structure of words
  • Explain how syllabication and morphology/etymology instruction supports decoding, vocabulary development, and comprehension in each content area

 

NOTE: This two-day session will meet via Zoom from 9:00-Noon on July 26 and July 27. The Zoom link, PowerPoint, Handouts, and Breakout Room documents will be emailed to those who register. Participants will need to be prepared to manipulate multiple tabs during this highly interactive session. Participants are required to keep their cameras turned on during this session, as attendance and participation will be monitored. You must attend both days to receive the full 6 hours credit. This session qualifies for Science of Reading Pathway D.

 

Audience: This professional development was written for content teachers in Grades 3-6. However, high school teachers are welcome to attend. Regular education and special education teachers are welcome.
