IM’s problem-based lessons are designed to allow students to
solve problems in ways that make sense to them. During the activity, students
engage in a problem in meaningful ways and teachers monitor to uncover and
nurture conceptual understandings. During the activity synthesis, students
collectively reveal multiple approaches to a problem and make connections
between these approaches (MP3). This session will discuss how to “explicitly”
plan for this type of problem and how to facilitate it. We will explore the 5
Practices in an actual lesson. We will delve into the following practices:
Anticipate, Monitor, Select, Sequence, & Connect.
The zoom links will be sent out the day before the session.
