GFESC Focus on Forest/Southeastern Forests and Climate Change: Project Learning Tree Science Curriculum for Grades 10-12

This workshop will be divided into two sessions. The morning session will highlight Focus on Forest. The afternoon session will highlight Southeastern Forests and Climate Change Part 1: This high school curriculum is designed to foster student understanding of — and appreciation for — the forested lands of North America. The lessons provide students with opportunities for hands-on forest study and address concepts in biology, civics, ecology, economics, forest management, and other content areas. Click here for more information about Project Learning Tree and this curriculum: https://www.plt.org/curriculum/focus-on-forests/ Part 2: Project Learning Tree and the University of Florida developed this award winning material to help educators in the Southeast teach about climate change impacts on forest ecosystems, the role of forests in sequestering carbon, and strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to changing climatic conditions. While this resource was created with southeastern forests in mind, the lessons that comprise this module can be used with students across the United States. Teachers will receive FREE Project Learning Tree curriculum with activities discussed in the workshop.
