Have you ever had a student that could explode at the least provocation? Or have you ever found yourself in an argument with a student that gets more and more coercive? If we are honest we have all met our match at least once!!! Having knowledge of how to deal with explosive students requires awareness of the tendency of some students to lack the executive function skill of problem solving. So they see the world as absolutes, we sometimes say they only see things as black or white and no gray. Collaborative problem solving is a skill we can all use, but is so valuable when involved with such a student as I described above. In this virtual training you will be exposed to the reason and history of this skill. You will also be able to practice (in Breakout rooms) the steps in Collaborative Problem Solving developed by Ross Greene, Ph. D. of Harvard University. Greene has written several books (“Explosive Child” and “Lost at School” and "Treating Explosive Kids”). Several other authors have written books about using this technique in school settings.
