AFESC-Breaking Barriers Series: Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse Teaching Force

Are you interested in actionable ways to increase equitable opportunities in education in Arkansas? If so, then our Breaking Barriers series is for you! We will be hosting one session each quarter this year focused on helping educators learn ways to support systemic change. This evening session will focus on the need for and benefits of increasing the number of teachers of color in Arkansas for both minority and non-minority students. Recommendations for recruitment and retention of teachers of color will also be provided.

Our speaker for the evening will be Tina Fletcher, Morrilton graduate, Harvard grad, and UPenn Doctoral Student.  Her areas of research include recruiting and retaining a diverse teaching force, Praxis barriers, and the School-to-Prison pipeline.  Learn more about her work here: http://docstudentprofiles.gse.upenn.edu/profile/1646
