This training introduces school personnel to concepts related to childhood trauma, how it impacts development and how it might appear in the classroom. Participants will learn key strategies for supporting children exposed to potentially traumatic events in their home, school or community. Participants will also learn how to identify when children need additional support and how to access trauma treatment services and resources. Participants will explore in depth key topics such as types of trauma, the impact of trauma on the brain development, maintaining emotional safety during a crisis, and and application of key concepts to real-life scenarios.
This session will be offered twice. Once in the morning, and repeated in the afternoon.
