2022-DESE-Youth Mental Health First Aid - Virtual

This course will cover how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.  The training gives skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to youth who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.  This virtual training consists of two parts:

Prework: self-paced online work that must be completed one week prior to the instruction led session.  Emails from MHFA Connect with instructions, links and reminders will be received.  If the pre-work is not completed, attendance is not allowed in the instructor led session.

Virtual Instructor Led Training: all participants will join a live Zoom training to apply completed prework.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an international program listed in the National Registry of Evidence based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

Participation for the entirety of the course is required to receive certification. (At least 5 people are required for the session to be held).
