OUR ACEs & A Trauma-Savvy Classroom

There is a growing recognition that our school and classroom environments need to be trauma-sensitive, trauma-responsive, trauma-informed.  What exactly does that mean?  Why is it important?  What are the foundational concepts educators need to understand, and what are the strategies educators can employ?  This course will answer these questions in an interactive and engaging format.  The Adverse Childhood Experiences study helps us to understand how early trauma impacts the brains and bodies of children, cascading into learning and social/emotional skills building.  We will review the study, how it impacts classrooms and how to begin to respond.  This course is a full contact sport.  Be ready for self-discovery, introspection, reflective, and stretching outside of your comfort zone.  Our goal is empowered teaching.
