504 & Dyslexia in Arkansas



The Equity Assistance Center from the Arkansas Department of Education will provide training on Section 504. The presenters will provide and overview of the law, including Child-Find requirements, with a focus on how dyslexia fits into the process. The training will provide District Section 504 Coordinators information on what their role is in the overall process along with how they can support their teams, administrators and teachers. The training will provide District Dyslexia Contacts with information concerning the Section 504 process and the specific needs of ensuring non-discrimination against students identified with characteristics of dyslexia. There will also be discussion on how Section 504 teams work to serve all students with a specific focus on students identified with characteristics of dyslexia.
