WDMESC: STEM Career Exploration that Students and Teachers Love! Learning Blade-Career Blade
This will be our annual Business Teacher’s collaborative meeting. We will review program updates and share best practices being used within the WDMESC. Join this interactive session to explore Learning Blade and Career Blade! Learning Blade and Career Blade are free statewide STEM career awareness programs aligned to Arkansas academic standards. Learning Blade is for grades 5-9 and contains hundreds of online STEM focused “mission” lessons that lead students through exploring technologies and careers while practicing academic skills aligned to Arkansas standards. 93% of Learning Blade teachers agree the lessons provide students practical examples of the application of STEM concepts. In addition, teachers can use dozens of lesson plans that support innovative STEM project-based learning using common materials found in the classroom.
Career Blade is a free, web-based K-12 resource for teachers to integrate career pathways relevant to their specific economic region. For instance, a 2nd grade teacher in Little Rock, Arkansas will be able to visit the website and easily find downloadable, subject-based and grade-appropriate lesson plans for actual career pathways offered in the Central Arkansas economic region. Go to CareerBladeArkansas.com to access the lesson plan portal.
Sign up for your free Learning Blade account provided by the Arkansas Department of Education, Governor’s office and in partnership with the APSRC at www.learningblade.com/AR
