GREC-Personal Care Training

"This Personal Care training will provide the non-certified paraprofessionals in your district, that work with special education students who need assistance with their physical dependency needs, the required practical training piece (10 hours) of the required 40-hours for certification. Once the paraprofessional completes the certification requirements, the paraprofessional will receive a Personal Care certificate and will be certified for the district to bill Medicaid for the personal care services provided to approved students. The district must employ an RN, who will write the personal care assessment/prior authorization on the students that are being assisted. The services that are billable include: bathing, bladder, and bowel requirements, eating, dressing, incidental housekeeping, hygiene, shopping, mobility, and ambulation. This training covers everything the district needs to know to bill for Personal Care. It is recommended that the RN who will be writing the care plans and supervising to attend with their paraprofessionals, as all paperwork will be covered and so that everyone is on the same page."
