How Launching Reading Readiness in Pre-K Leads to Long Term Success. Long term reading success is dependent upon a student's ability to automatically recall words and connect them to their meanings. These abilities begin with an understanding of the alphabetic code, how spoken language relates to our written language. The Pre-K RISE initiative is leading the way by providing pre-k classrooms with dynamic and engaging curriculum, Launchpad. Concepts for this session include the phonemic awareness continuum's connections to reading development, leveraging oral language for orthographic mapping, supporting students with differentiated needs, and being intentional with expanding these skills to pre-k to ensure future reading success.
