AFESC-Dose of Reality/ Naloxone Training
DOSE OF REALITY (DOR) is a Preventive Educational Program regarding opioid abuse, misuse and addiction followed by Naloxone Hydrochloride presentation which provides signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose and emergency/rescue treatment using Naloxone. Attendees will receive education regarding opioid trends, signs and symptoms of opioid overdose and appropriate reaction to suspected opioid overdose by laypersons. Course evaluations along with pre and post surveys will be collected. Once trained in appropriate actions and use opioid antagonist, or Naloxone/Narcan, attendees will be given an Opioid Overdose Naloxone Kit. This kit includes a 2-dose pack of Naloxone that will be theirs to take home and keep. *All attendees must be 18 years or older to receive a Naloxone kit. **Attendees must be present for the entirety of the course and complete course paperwork to receive a Naloxone kit.
