SCSC-Secondary Trauma

Secondary trauma is the trauma that caregivers experience from helping people who have experienced traumatic experiences in their lives. In this session, participants will gain an understanding of what secondary trauma is and how teachers are affected by it. Topics pertaining to compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue will be discussed, as well as dealing with the trauma that our students bring into our classrooms every day. We will also explore resources and ideas that can help us better cope with this issue. This event will cover 2 hours of suicide awareness.

TESS components addressed include: 1A, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E, 4F
