This professional development is designed for
teachers who teach a Critical Reading or Strategic Reading Course. However, all teachers are welcome to attend regardless of
whether they teach those courses or not. Four different professional
development days are offered; however, attendance in all four sessions is not
required (but is strongly recommended).
Participants will:
• Apply specific strategies that engage students with reading
• Explain how to help students become self-directed readers
• Apply strategies to help students connect reading to their personal interests, goals, everyday life, and world events
• Incorporate engagement strategies into your curriculum
Audience: Strategic Reading Course teachers and Critical Reading
Course teachers. However, all middle school and high school teachers are
welcome to attend.
