DSC Using RTI and “General Education” Data to Improve Outcomes for Students with Disabilities
Students identified in need of special education under IDEA are provided an Individualized Education Program. IEP teams include general education teachers, however when it comes to the specialized data involved in the IEP process, many general education teachers rarely access this data to make daily classroom decisions. “General Education Data” refers to the data collected on all students...ACT Aspire Data, District or Building Level Universal Screening Data, or even Common Formative Assessments to name a few. Schools are identified for additional state level supports based on “General Education Data” for all students, including those identified under IDEA. In this session we will focus on: *Helping educators understand the evaluation process and what those evaluation results mean for those students who have an IEP. *Helping educators use that data to help those students be successful in the general education academic setting. *How to analyze and use “General Education Data” to design and implement interventions for students to improve outcomes assessed in the general education setting. The specialized instruction provided to a student through their IEP cannot be the only way deficits are addressed if the goal is to truly progress in the general education setting.
