Session 2 on June 23 will focus on Success with Secondary Mathematics with a focus on developing expressions, equations, graphing, functions, and reasoning with success with problem solving. The approach will be aligned to the new Arkansas standards and for grade-level mastery with emphasis on instructional planning and pacing. Current curriculum and High-Quality Instructional Materials will be the resources presented and used with creating Pacing Guides.
A special feature for instructional delivery will be an instructional workstation model created, piloted and with data evidence for reasoning, developing concepts and establishing algebraic foundations for problem-solving success with all tested secondary mathematics. Monitoring growth and evaluating problem-solving is based on the four strands of Mathematical Proficiency: Understanding, Fluency with Accuracy, Problem Solving Representation and Strategies, and Communication with Mathematical Discourse. Simulations for STEM areas will be embedded in the instructional concept and the planning phase of the project. Eighth grade teachers will have a choice of attending and participating with Secondary as an 8-12 grade band of success.
