AFESC- Teacher Residency Model
The purpose of the session is to provide an overview of the Arkansas Teacher Residency Program. The program allows high school students to earn credentials to become a Certified Teaching Assistant (CTA) and then in turn move into the college setting to begin their teaching degree at little or no cost. The residency program is also ideal for classified staff who want to continue working, while also pursuing a degree in education, thus, truly gaining on the job training to ensure they are ready to lead in the classroom on Day 1! UACCM will also be on hand to discuss how they are working to accommodate the needs of schools in their service area and how they can be partners with districts as they pursue teacher certification in a flexible, but cohesive setting.
