DSC Trauma Sensitive Environments in Your School-VIRTUAL Session
Trauma-Sensitive environments create safe havens for students and safe working environments for educators. Research shows almost all educators encounter trauma affected students, whether they know it or not. This session focuses on student emotions, safety & security and adverse childhood experiences, along with strategies to help students de-escalate and regulate emotions and behavior. A positive school culture builds resilience for all students and improves learning outcomes.
My Life Is Worth Living animated series illustrates that human connection is a protective factor. The series tells stories of characters who face some of the most difficult issues that young people face today and the adults who helped them get to a place of healing. This session is based on the series which aims to spark conversations surrounding mental health and suicide prevention with guided discussion for introducing concepts, and thoroughly explores how to implement the guided curriculum which includes individual, group and family activities. The National Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline has dubbed My Life is Worth Living as one of only 9 vetted resources for youth.
