This workshop is designed for all teachers in the Wilbur D Mills Cooperative Region who are entering their second year of teaching. During this time, the novice teacher will:
- Meet and build a relationships with WDMESC R&R Department and other novices
- Learn about the expectations and requirements of the Novice Teacher Mentoring Program
- Receive guidance and support for being “Day 1 Ready” for the Classroom
- Build a Success Plan and receive information about teacher licensure support (if needed)
- Receive strategies for developing grit, passion, and perseverance in the workplace
- Build on their current understanding of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching by taking a deeper look into Danielson’s Cluster 4 (Intellectual Engagement) and Cluster 5 (Successful Learning).
- Examine the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators which holds educators accountable to a high standard of professionalism both inside and outside the classroom
- Discover the importance of the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators and how it assists current and prospective educators in becoming knowledgeable of how their professional decision-making affects the well-being and safety of students while supporting the culture and mission of their schools.
