WDMESC: Year 2 Novice Teacher Bootcamp



This workshop is designed for all teachers in the Wilbur D Mills Cooperative Region who are entering their second year of teaching.  During this time, the novice teacher will:

  • Meet and build a relationships with WDMESC R&R Department and other novices
  • Learn about the expectations and requirements of the Novice Teacher Mentoring Program
  • Receive guidance and support for being “Day 1 Ready” for the Classroom
  • Build a Success Plan and receive information about teacher licensure support (if needed)
  • Receive strategies for developing grit, passion, and perseverance in the workplace
  • Build on their current understanding of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching by taking a deeper look into Danielson’s Cluster 4 (Intellectual Engagement) and Cluster 5 (Successful Learning).  
  • Examine the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators which holds educators accountable to a high standard of professionalism both inside and outside the classroom
  • Discover the importance of the Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators and how it assists current and prospective educators in becoming knowledgeable of how their professional decision-making affects the well-being and safety of students while supporting the culture and mission of their schools.
