ARESC-Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Online Course Facilitator Train the Trainer
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. Through CERT, the capabilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters are built and enhanced. The purpose of this workshop is to train personnel in the implementation of the CERT curriculum in public schools. Personnel will be trained to implement the curriculum in their school districts through a half-day workshop. Personnel will then be able to train teachers in the district on how to deliver the course at the classroom level. At the workshop, the instructors will: · Review the history and overall objectives of the program · Receive training on their role as the facilitator for the online instruction · Receive training on their role as the facilitator for the implementation of the skills training and checkoff procedures that must be performed for successful completion of the program. · Learn how to identify potential subject matter experts within the community to perform the skills checkoff requirements for the course.
Important Session Information:
It is recommended that the ESC personnel complete the online CERT course prior to the workshop. The course will take approximately 12-16 hours to complete.
