AFESC-Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy-ZOOM

The Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy is the state's highest recognition to Arkansas high school students who have attained proficiency in two or more languages. In June 2018, the Arkansas State Board of Education officially endorsed the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal is awarded by the AFLTA (Arkansas Foreign Language Teachers Association) and the ARKTESOL (Arkansas Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Since March 2017, over four thousand bi-literate Arkansas high school students have earned the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy, across 95 high schools, in sixteen languages other than English.
This session will allow participants to navigate through the basic steps to get their students ready to qualify for this honorable distinction. Topics to be covered will include testing criteria, testing sites, score requirements, plans for student recognition, and the application process, all in compliance with the ARSB educator's guide.
