AFESC-Centering Southeast Asia: Teaching Modern Vietnam [Grades 5 - 12]-VIRTUAL/HYBRID



This hybrid workshop (featuring 3 hours of synchronous instruction over zoom and 3 hours of exploration and lesson planning activities via Google classroom) introduces teachers to the history, culture, and politics of colonial Vietnam, offering essential context, classroom-ready teaching materials, and thought provoking lesson plans that engage popular topics like colonialism and the Vietnam War from perspectives within Southeast Asia. Drawing on experts in Southeast Asian and American history, the workshop will connect teachers to important collections of primary sources and is intended for Grade 6 - 12 teachers in geography, world history, world literature, and civics courses.
