While the focus of this half day training is to provide novice special educators with strategies to monitor their students’ progress toward mastery of IEP goals/objectives, consideration will be given to assuring the accuracy of PLAAFP (present level of academic achievement and functional performance) statements and that goals/objectives are reasonably calculated to result in progress. Guidance will be provided to enable special educators to (1) develop data collection instruments to monitor student progress and (2) support general education teachers’ data collection for students with IEPs.
