AFESC-Far East Deep South: Teaching Asian American History in the Delta



Asian Americans are the fastest growing demographic subgroup in Arkansas and teaching Asian American history in the South has never been more important. Join ARNCTA for continuing education workshop on teaching Asian American history in our state, followed by a public film screening of the classroom-rady, award-winning documentary film FAR EAST DEEP SOUTH, which explores the seldom-told history of Chinese immigrants in the Mississippi Delta region. All events will take place at UCA College of Business. 4:00 - 5:00 PM: Teaching Asian American History in Arkansas Location: UCA Integrated Health Sciences Building Rm. 345 **Join Dr. Zach Smith for an exploration of engaging themes and classroom-ready materials for teaching Asian American experiences in Arkansas and US History courses. Topics include: Chinese grocers, Japanese internment, Marshallese refugees, and more.
