AFESC-Nurturing Novices: Empowering Teacher Leaders to Foster Growth in New Educators
Novice teachers face a steep learning curve as they navigate their roles in the classroom. The guidance and support they receive during this critical period can significantly impact their growth and long-term success as educators. This session will equip teacher leaders with the tools, strategies, and mindset needed to effectively mentor and support novice teachers, ultimately fostering their professional growth and development. We will explore the various backgrounds of novice teachers entering the profession, specifics on what information and support they need to begin their school year strong and develop an action plan for ongoing and consistent support throughout the school year. Participants will also engage in scenarios that help them navigate difficult conversations leading to empowerment and growth.
