AFESC-Navigating Classroom Management as a Novice Teacher

Routines, procedures, scheduling, physical arrangement, relationships, behavior… classroom management is A LOT. Novice teachers naturally struggle with any or all aspects that fall under the umbrella of classroom management. This professional learning experience is designed specifically for teachers in the first three years of their careers. Participants will engage in specific strategies for routine and procedure development, manage transitions efficiently, and learn about proactive methods to establish a safe learning community. There will be an emphasis on how to build, strengthen, and repair teacher and student relationships, as well as peer relationships when behaviors become barriers for individuals and the collective group.

This session will address instructional strategies most appropriate for the following levels of instruction:

Tier 1, 2, 3
