AFESC-Navigating Family Communication as a Novice Teacher
Teachers are challenged with having some very difficult conversations with families about academic, behavioral, social, and emotional concerns. Understanding family dynamics is crucial for trusting relationships to form and sustain. This session is built specifically for new educators (teachers in the first three years of their careers) and provides a framework for building authentic partnerships between the teacher, families, and students. Participants will learn how to build a proactive plan for intentional communication before hard conversations are necessary, and how to plan, frame, and lead difficult conversations that will strengthen trusting relationships between families and school. Participants will also learn how to strengthen the consistency of general communication through various modalities.
