NWAESC(2095)-Engaged Learners: A program to support student engagement during small group reading instruction
This workshop will describe how to effectively integrate the Engaged Learners program into an elementary school’s small group reading instruction. Engaged Learners is a standardized, yet customizable program that can be integrated within existing reading programs to address concerns about behavior and increase learning time for students. This program has shown to improve student engagement when implemented by teachers and paraprofessionals of all experience levels. Participants will gain a better understanding of the key practices of Engaged Learners and the evidence from research studies. Throughout the presentation, demonstrations of Engaged Learners will show participants how to use the complimentary lessons plans and coaching protocols that are provided as part of the workshop. Participants will need to bring their computers.
