OUR NOVA Basic Community Crisis Response Team Training

NOVA’s Basic Level Community Crisis Response Team Training consists of twenty-four hours of techniques and protocols for providing crisis intervention to traumatized individuals. The training focuses on the fundamentals of crisis and trauma, and how to adapt to basic techniques to individuals and groups in this area also known as psychological first aid. This training is intended for members of the school or district safety team designated to respond in a crisis event and provide intervention to traumatized individuals. The training focuses on the fundamentals of crisis and trauma, and how to provide trauma mitigation, education and emotional first aid in the aftermath of a critical incident. Due to the intense nature of this training, some exercises may be uncomfortable or stressful to participants; especially those who have experienced recent trauma or crisis. The development of an emergency operation plan will not be specifically addressed in this training.

The intended audience members are any school district administrators, faculty, or staff, especially counselors or those who work in mental health first aid.
