Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Youth Mental Health First Aid helps you assist adolescents who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is a curriculum that is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human service workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent who is experiencing mental health or addiction challenges or a crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for youth who regularly interact with young people. This course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
