DSC Adventures in Genetics: Tigers & STEM
Biology teachers, are you looking for innovative ways to connect the concept of inheritance to drops of colored liquid in clear “jello” looking blocks? How each organism grows and develops is linked back to the blueprint found in DNA. Teachers and 3-5 of their students can come to Dawson and work with Ouachita Baptist University students through the BRCA Chronicles: Breast Cancer Genetics MiniLab. Instruction is under the leadership of Dr. Nathan Reyna. Participants will go through a case study of a student trying to decide if they want to test for the breast cancer gene and subsequent testing. The lessons/materials were created by MiniOne Systems. Equipment is available for checking out and Science Specialist Susan Allison is available to help you go through this Unit with your Biology/AP Biology classes.
