The 8-day Cognitive Coaching Foundation Seminar Certification provides participants with the tools to foster self-directedness, resourcefulness, and reflective thinking within students, teachers, and administrators.
Days 1 and 2 of Cognitive Coaching will help fulfill the coaching requirements to become an Experienced Mentor Teacher. Days 3-8 trainings are TBA, and will be shared as soon as possible. This training is eight 6-hour sessions (48 hours total). All eight (8) sessions are required, 8:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. each day and are on-site. Upon completion of the 8-day training and participation in the final practice coaching session on-site, participants will receive certification that they are a trained Cognitive Coach. Agendas for Days 1-4 include the Planning Conversation Map and the Reflecting Conversation Map as well as the tools of Cognitive Coaching SM. Days 5-8 provide for skill refinement and understanding of the Problem-Resolving Map. In the 8-day seminars, participants learn how to: Develop trust and rapport, develop an identity as a mediator of thinking to increase resourcefulness in self and others, utilize conversation structures for planning, reflecting and problem resolving using conversation maps, develop teachers' autonomy, self-directedness, and sense of community, develop higher levels of efficacy, consciousness, craftsmanship, flexibility and interdependence; apply four support functions: coaching, evaluating, and conferencing. A one time cost of $55 will be charged for anyone outside of SCSC for the cost of the manual that goes along with this training. It can be used for all 8 day
