Supporting SLIFE English Learners

- School staff (teachers, paras, counselors, admin) who are working with students who are considered to be "SLIFE", or Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (2 years or more behind in academic instruction).




  • Name 2-3 basic characteristics of SLIFE students.
  • Define MALP and why this is important to SLIFE students.
  • Name 5 supports that can be provided in the classroom.

Important Session Information:


If you have worked with the subgroup of English Learners who are considered to be SLIFE, who have missed instruction or who have limited instruction in their native language/country, you know the challenges! This workshop focuses on Building Background of SLIFE students as well as providing academic, cultural, and behavioral strategies for working with SLIFE students and their parents and/or guardians.

The virtual webinar will include 2 hours of synchronous learning and 1 hour of asynchronous extended learning!
