Preventative Practices to Avoid Risky Behaviors

  • Identify local low to no cost prevention program opportunities available in your area.

Important Session Information:


Each year 1 in 6 children ages 6-17 experience a mental health disorder, 16% of students consider attempting suicide, and the number of high school students turning to tobacco use increased from 19.5% in 2017 to 36.5% in 2019.

Schools play a critical role in supporting students' mental, emotional, and behavioral development by establishing life-long coping skills and behaviors. This three-part, virtual series focuses on implementing preventative practices in your school to expand your students' potential. Join us for part one of this series as we:

  • Review the continuum of care for mental, emotional, and behavioral development
  • Explore how the models of prevention fit into the multi-tiered system of support (MTSS)  Gain familiarity with the six strategies of prevention planning
  • Hear from local mental health professionals regarding supports available in your community

We invite you to attend one, two, or all three parts of this series. Currently, registration is OPEN for part one, with multiple sessions to choose from. Sessions are free to participants thanks to funding provided by the Ohio Department of Education.
