Dyslexia: Evidence Based Practices and the New Ohio Dyslexia Law

- Audience:  Reading Specialists, Intervention Specialists, Speech and Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Teachers, Administrators




  • Demonstrate knowledge of the components of dyslexia and reading difficulties.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of screening characteristics of dyslexia.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of instructional components essential for students with dyslexic tendencies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Ohio House Bill 436 on dyslexia screening, intervention and remediation.
  • Completion of post-assessment.

Important Session Information:


David A. Kilpatrick, PhD will be giving an overview of dyslexia including characteristics, screening, and evidence-based practices. The author of two books on reading development and difficulties, Dr. Kilpatrick is an expert in dyslexia and is a renowned researcher in reading. In addition, Hamilton County ESC colleagues will provide information regarding Ohio House Bill 436 on dyslexia screening, intervention and remediation.
