As awareness builds, it's more important than ever to make certain we are meeting students' unique social and emotional needs in the classroom and beyond. Gifted learners can struggle with stress, perfectionism, anxiety, and an array of challenges that are frequently connected to giftedness. The struggles of these learners are often unseen or misunderstood. This book/course will serve as tool to explore concepts and strategies that will help you to identify and meet these social and emotional needs. A leading resource in the field of gifted education, this book connects the uniqueness of gifted students to research and practices regarding the non-academic needs that our students bring to classroom.

Participants will examine the world gifted education through the lenses of classroom experience, data, research, and most importantly practical strategies to use. The primary focus of the book study will be applying these strategies and best practices and examining how they alter the learning experience for your students.

This 15 contact hour online book study will require:

•Independent reading of the text

•Engagement with online Modules

•Digital interaction with fellow participants

•Development of and reflection on actionable strategies in the classroom

Course Dates: November 1st through April 29th

Participants are responsible for the purchase of the book.

Team of Four Discount $55 per person

This book study qualifies for 15 gifted HQPD hours and addresses the following gifted competencies:

1.The ability to understand the social and emotional needs of students who are gifted and to  address the impact of those needs on student learning.

2.The ability to recognize and respond to characteristics and needs of students from traditionally underrepresented populations who are gifted and create safe and culturally responsive learning environments.

3.The ability to use data from a variety of sources to measure and monitor the growth of students who are gifted.
