LETRS Cohort Units 1-4

- Audience:  Teachers of reading in grades K-3




  • Understand how language, reading, and writing are related to one another.
  • Learn evidence-based research and strategies that explain the “why” behind comprehensive literacy instruction, providing explicit instruction about “how” to effectively teach for the best results.
  • Develop an understanding of the “why” behind science and evidence-based research, in order to effectively know how to aid students in learning to read.

Important Session Information:


LETRS is a professional learning course for instructors of reading, spelling, and related language skills. It provides educators with in-depth knowledge and tools that they can use with any reading program. This dynamic blended learning experience includes three components:

LETRS Online Learning Platform LETRS Print Manual LETRS Unit Professional Learning Sessions Live Online (with meeting space available at HCESC)

LETRS professional learning is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association, and aligns with their Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. The program follows a Structured Literacy approach, and provides educators with Science of Reading pedagogy, depth of knowledge, and tools to teach language and literacy skills to every student.
