Understanding and Using Attendance Data for Improvement

- Audience:  School and District Leaders




  • Leverage existing data available through the district’s student information system and other data sources to prevent and address student chronic absenteeism.
  • Gather resources and tools to improve student attendance.
  • Integrate attendance data into a multi-tiered system of support.

Important Session Information:


Student success starts with attendance and engaged learning, either in-person or remotely. As Ohio recovers from the negative effects of the pandemic, many families still struggle with getting students to school consistently and transitioning back to in-person learning. Students who are absent from school miss important learning opportunities, which can be difficult or even impossible to make up. The goal of the Understanding and Using Attendance Data for Improvement is to help educators, school leaders, and district leaders understand and use attendance data for improvement.
