Incorporating Core Vocabulary to Promote Academic Progress: Getting to the Core of Core Vocabulary

In this training, Shannon Paige of the TexasAssistive Technology Network will utilize research based strategies to promote understanding of core vocabulary and its impact on successfully communicating through AAC. Participants will incorporate core vocabulary strategies in a variety of functional, literacy and academic activities for the purpose of developing proficiency in the area of communication. Participants will also investigate ways to adapt current academic environments and activities to promote progress in both academic tasks and communication. Videos and examples will be provided to facilitate learning of techniques and procedures.
