Imagine the Possibilities: The Role of Employment in Transition Success
Making Employment Happen: Finding a Good Job Match and Building Skills

The transition from school to community is an exciting time for students with disabilities and their families. A key part of this transition is planning for employment – a real job in the community. This 2-part webinar series is designed to help families raise expectations that work is possible and provide strategies for building student skills and finding a good job match. This series is perfect for families of students age 12 to 22 and is available via afternoon or evening virtual sessions. What does a “good life” look like for your student with a disability? As an adult, where will they live? How will they choose to spend their free time? These are things that every family thinks about. This webinar will highlight the important role employment plays in the transition from school to community. Families will get the opportunity to learn why a real job in the community is linked to a person’s “good life”. Tools will be shared that help re-frame a person from a “person with a disability”, to a person who has skills that employers are looking for. Attendees will also get the opportunity to ask questions and express concerns. Work is possible for persons with disabilities, and families play a key role in making it happen.
