Texas Dyslexia Academy 3: Considerations for Emergent Bilingual Students

This session provides a general overview of the unique needs of emergent bilingual students as it relates to dyslexia risk factors, identification, and services. The objectives for this course are: Understand how The Dyslexia Handbook, 2021 Update addresses emergent bilingual students Understand the process of second language acquisition Learn about the benefits of bilingualism Explore the various types of alphabetic systems that exist around the world Explore instructional programming for emergent bilingual students

Important Session Information:


Most sessions are free to Tailor-Made package participants, with the possible exception of the cost of materials and required fees.  If not in a Tailor-Made package, half-day fees are $125 per participant and full-day fees are $225 plus the cost of materials.

 

TAC §232.11 requires educators who teach students with dyslexia to have CPE training in new research and practices in educating students with dyslexia.*

*Successful completion of TDA 3 may satisfy this requirement, per local district policy.
