Day 1: Basic Welder Qualification- Classroom, Day 1. 8 AM to 4 PM
Review the current TEA welding IBCs how to conduct, log in, submit and view certifications.
A quick review of basic welding processes, theory and equipment as well as Oxy Fuel Welding and Cutting: safety, operation, cylinder storage, torches, tips types of fuel gasses, handling, settings and certification. Overview of online learning curriculum, welder and inspector certification.
Day 2: Advanced Welder Qualification - Classroom, Day 2. 8 AM to 4 PM
Quick review of AWS D1.1 Tack, AWS D9.1 Fillet Testing, AWD D1.1 and ASME BPV Code Fillet Testing.
How to use basic weld inspection tools, (provided) Fillet size and Undercut Gauges.
Intro to advanced certifications: D1.1 V-groove and API Pipe welder qualification.
Brief discussion on materials, supplies need for hands-on day 3.
Day 3: Practical Welder Qualification- Hands on, Day 3. 8 AM to 4 PM
Instructor demonstrations of all TEA welder testing joints (AWS SENSE and CW have additional req’mts)
Teacher practice, testing and certification of AWS D1.1 and AWS D9.1 welder Qual Tests.
Teacher welding, qualification and certification in Oxy Fuel Torch Operation
Teacher training on how to administer, submit, view and interpret welder qualification testing docs.
Preparation for teacher certification as AWS Certified Welding Inspector Specialist, for those interested.
Materials and supplies needed: Could be provided by the host school or each teacher’s responsibility.
