Multiplication and Division Computation Strategies that Build Comprehension: Grades 3-5
I can do it, but I can't explain it...this workshop teaches multiplication and division computational strategies teachers could use to help bring a real understanding of number relationships and the meaning behind the math for their students. These strategies can be viewed as the bridge students need to develop conceptual and procedural understandings that help lead to fluency and number sense. Teachers will engage in multiple computation strategies for multiplication and division and have the opportunity to practice applying the strategies to STAAR released items. This workshop also models Number Talks. Teachers will share their thinking about how they solved a problem using the strategies with the group.
