Fraction concepts and fraction computations are two areas where students are likely to struggle due to COVID-19 school closures. After March, students typically deepen understanding of fractions, and at some grade levels, new fraction content is introduced.
In order to support teachers as they prepare and plan for instruction in these areas, this training will focus on:
- identifying potential fraction gaps;
- unpacking previous grade level standards that align with these gaps;
- engaging in vertically aligned fraction activities and discussions; and
- creating pre-assessments that will inform instruction for teachers when planning their fractions units.
