Texas Dyslexia Identification Academy - Module 1

This is one of five modules developed to assist schools in the identification of students with dyslexia.

The objectives for Module 1 are:

  • to define dyslexia and related disorders;
  • to explore the characteristics and common risk factors of dyslexia at varying age and grade levels, and;
  • to review associated academic difficulties and conditions that may co-exist with dyslexia.

Important Workshop Information:

In this workshop, participants will consider the steps in learning to read and what to do when that literacy process is difficult for some students.

The specialist will

  • review evidence-based research for each instructional component of reading;
  • discuss the characteristics of dyslexia;
  • familiarize participants with The Dyslexia Handbook, and;
