The Reading and Writing Connection
Grades 3-5




Teachers must make natural connections between reading and writing.  This leads students to see how reading and writing skills and strategies are interrelated.

Important Workshop Information:


Participants will learn how to successfully integrate reading and writing instruction. Reading for meaning and reading like a writer are essential.  Learn instructional strategies to use reading as a model for student created writing. Discover how reading and writing can be used simultaneously to teach:

  • text organization
  • purpose and audience
  • word choice
  • voice
  • conventions
  • sentence fluency and
  • development of ideas

through the use of high quality text.
