Lead4Ward - Studying the Parts That Make Up the Whole of Fractions
Grades 2-5




Is the sum of all your parts not equaling the whole when it comes to the Fractions strand of Mathematics? Fractions can be very complex for young learners until they understand the value of a “whole” and experience the “parts of the whole” through a variety of concrete representations. Spend a day experiencing the verticality of Fractions in the elementary curriculum.

This workshop includes:

  • Engaging in activities that vertically align to the developmental acquisition of fractional understanding
  • Connecting the concrete, pictorial, and abstract thinking of fractions
  • Unveiling what released STAAR items demonstrate about the expectations of fractional understanding
